Playrooms are great; each toy is likely designated to its own area tucked away in fancy organized bins, and if not neat and tidy, the door of every playroom is the best part anyway! Although, playrooms have their place, if your sick of stashing all the “ugly kids stuff” in that other room, or if your in need of ideas on how to properly integrate some of your children’s toys onto any shelving in your home, follow these easy steps.
Don’t place all the kids items on the shelves before adding household pieces. Start with a strong foundation of well placed books, do-dads or whatever, then add their toys as pleasant accent pieces.
antique stores are awesome
If you’re in the market for beautifully made toys, buy antiques. They will compliment any decor and are just as fun to play with.
baskets are everything
Place your children’s favorite toys in baskets. Those toys don’t have to be cute and they’ll always be close at hand.
IKEA is full of treasures
Their wooden toys are fit for any shelf.
Anything Eames is beautiful, even their toy boxes.
toys in action
Set up the toys. We set up the Eames House of Cards instead of putting them back in the box.
Even educational toys can be cute!
Did I mention everything is amazing when it’s made of wood. This toy horse barn looks perfectly in place next to design books.
